Secondary Fan or bracket Replacement Instructions

The following instructions explain how to replace the secondary fan (800 MHz logic board) or bracket (667 MHz logic board) in the PowerBook G4 (DVI) computer.

Tools

• Black stick (or other nonconductive nylon or plastic tool)
• Torx T6 screwdriver

Preliminary Steps

Before you begin, remove the following:

• Battery
• Logic Board (if a secondary fan is installed, disconnect its connector from the logic board while removing the logic board)

Procedure

1. Remove the T6 screw from the fan bracket.
2. If a secondary fan is installed, disconnect its connector from the logic board while removing the logic board. Lift out the fan bracket or fan assembly.

Replacement Note: Ensure that the fan bracket captures and secures the bulb wire connector, as shown.
